BLOMFIELD EXCAVATIONS is a privately owned business offering you the personal touch that is often missing with a large corporation.

We started our operations over 30 years ago with just one backhoe working with Goldings in the sub divisions at Clinton Park, Trees Estate and Glen Eden and then with Dixon Homes on the Telina Estate.

With Gladstone growing rapidly, in 1977 we decided to buy a 400C Drott for the contract of levelling the house blocks in the Telina subdivision.

This was when we made the decision to start growing into the Company we are today. We could see the potential of Gladstone and decided that we wanted to be involved in the development of this area.

In 1982-83 we purchased a 20 acre block at Tannum Sands specifically for the purpose of supplying the local builders and plumbers with all of their sand requirements.

1985 brought the purchase of a washing plant so we could supply to all the Concrete Plants that were operating around the Gladstone area. With this came an increase in trucks, loaders and employees.

With the increase in demand we again expanded by purchasing a further block at Tannum Sands adjacent to the one we already owned. Our washing plant started crushing procedures in early 1985 after we were granted a permit by the Gladstone Port Authority for the removal of gravel from upstream in the Boyne River.

The crushing of river gravel saw a move into providing more product to the Main Roads and the local Councils with paving materials, roadbase and screenings for construction and repairs to roads and streets in the Central Queensland area.

With our Companies expansion it enabled us to compete for the tenders on the subdivisions that were previously out of reach. We became very competitive with the larger Companies due to us having our own supply of sand, gravels and equipment.

Some of the subdivisions that we have recently completed are Emmadale Park Estate in the city of Gladstone, Oaks Estate at Tannum Sands and The Heights Estate and Points North in Agnes Water.

We have also acquired other properties for the source of materials for our locally competitive market. Kunwarrara Quarry North of Rockhampton in 1996 and more recently a lease on the Calliope River for the supply of sands and gravels.

A major accomplishment was winning the tender for the supply and delivery of all sands and aggregates for the raising of the Awoonga Dam. This was a major project for the Gladstone Area in 2001-2002.

We have also purchased a few large Dozers D9 & D10 that are suitable for work on Mine sites and large Earthworks projects. Both Machines have had long term hire on local sites such as Awoonga Dam clearing, Shale Oil Project and the Callide Coal Mine.
